Author appreciation blog crawl – It’s My turn…

When I emailed Kassa a couple of weeks ago to ask about this years blog crawl event I actually knew which author I wanted to write about, after last years experience of whittling down a massive author list I swore I was not going to fall into that trap again.

But life has a way of taking matters out of our hands sometime – my earmarked author died – yup, she died and thus one of my hard and fast rule for the blog fan crawl kicked in. This year I had only two criteria for my fan letter, Firstly I wanted to do a fan letter to a living breathing here and now author and secondly one that was still in the game.

So while I have given my ode to my earmarked author and shed a few tears at her death I was now left in the situation to find another author that I wanted to send loads of love to.

I made it simply for myself this time – I  just thought of the authors that fits most of my reading categories and it was a no brainer from there .

I am sending fan love out to two authors, Carol Lynne and Stormy Glenn. (yes I am doing two – I waited a whole years to write my fan letter – bite me)

I have been reading both your works for so long I am not sure I remember when I initial found you. I am an easy going and very forgiving reader and as such I am the first to admit your easy plotline and too sweet characters are not for everyone – but for me they are the business.

I love the fact that you write across the genres so there’s more of your style and so much more of your imaginings to explore. The characters you introduce me to range from the sweet to the dastardly and the ones that work well are a class act to follow – Nate from Ms. Lynne’s  Cattle Valley series is unforgettable and I am totally addicted to the guys from Ms Glenn’s Wolf Creek Pack series.

While I love your main cast and the support acts I especially love the fact that I know what I am getting when I pick up one of your books – your story are just the right length and tone and one of my wish is that you both would do a series together …..

I am not one to read every sex scene in any book however I love the sexual and emotional build up to whatever big event your storylines were leading to. You hit my squee button on all kinda levels with the lingering looks, the flirtation and the less than honourable intentions of your main characters…

One area I must give you ladies Kudos for is introducing a whole slew of readers to themes like twincest and male pregnancy in such a light hearted and erotic manner. These areas are generally a no go area for alot of readers – but your presentation make it fun and just apart of your characters path to finding that one true love.

Although I am glad I found your work years ago when there was not such a massive backlist, I am still a little jealous of readers just starting out with both your works. I wasn’t left wanting though, you both did not let the dustimage settle between books and for that I love how consistent you both were and still are at keeping us readers just on the edge with each release. The wait was not so long that we started moaning ( although honestly we are readers, moaning is built into our DNA) it was the right amount to let us at least get the dishes done before the next release.

Ms Lynne  - Your by-line ask readers to come into your world and get their feet wet. I came in, I am knee deep and totally enjoying it.

Ms Glenn – I know one of your loves is writing about a cowboy or two or even three getting their groove on. Your guys can park their boots by my bedside anytime.. anytime.

Ladies – carry on as you were – I for one am loving it.

We get 2 for the price of 1!

Everything on your list rings true. Great letter(s). Thankyou!

Wow, you've read the entire Carol Lynne backlist? I salute you. That is massive. I have not read many of her books but have enjoyed many Stormy Glenn books over the few years I have been reading m/m.

You're right, sometimes you know what you want and who can give it to you. Having themes and styles that are entertaining and comforting is not a bad thing. Great joint letter.

I haven't read any of Carol's work (although I suspect I will be doing so soon!), but I do love Stormy Glenn. I love the idea of this blog crawl, and I love your letter. Well done!

Like Tam, I'm impressed that you've read all the books by two such prolific authors!

And there's really nothing like a comfort read, is there?

Lovely letter EH! I haven't read any books by either author, but...I must confess to having a secret love of the male pregnancy trope. *blushes* I have no idea why. So, if you had a book to recommend, what would it be please?

Jenre on 19 June 2011 at 08:26 said...

Great letter, EH. I've read a few books from both authors, and whilst they haven't engaged me as much as they have you, they were still good reads and I know many readers have them as comfort read authors.

Love the chart!

Love the table! :)

I've not read either of these authors - male pregnancy? Now I'm curious!!

Not sure how it happened that I read all their book - I blame it on the bloody stressful job...

Confession is good for you... I love M preg as well..

I like Stormy Glenn - The Katzman's Mate , it's a off world storyline and I think it's was more believable for me because of that..

@Jenre..

I've read a few books from both authors, and whilst they haven't engaged me as much as they have you

I like to think of them as an acquired taste - and they certainly know their market...

Comforter readers like me are loving it..

Happy Sunday hon..

Hi EH!

I love this blog crawl. I've been such a bad blogger lately and haven't gotten around to any of my fav sites, yours being one of them.

You've written an inspiring original letter and as always I'm in awe. :) I've not read these authors but must put them on my list.

I loved this: I am an easy going and very forgiving reader and as such I am the first to admit your easy plotline and too sweet characters are not for everyone – but for me they are the business.

I can so relate!

Great tribute to two of your favorite authors EH. And, I love the table!

Best

Great joint letter!! That's an incredibly impressive feat to have read all the backlist of such prolific authors. These two are authors that I don't particularly like but I love how you explain exactly what you love about their writing. It's a guarenteed success for you and always exactly what you want when you pick it up. Not all authors and readers can say that.

Kudos on a great letter!! Thanks for participating.

Terrific letter, EH! I've enjoyed reading both authors' works although I'm nowhere near reading their entire backlist. It's huge... kudos to you! :)

@Lea..

Thank you...

A tribute the "plot heavy and character driven" authors is all good and well - but comfort read authors are an integral part of my reading week...
