When a New Years hits why do we feel obliged to call around and wish EVERYONE the best, smile like a loon at people we don’t even know or even like if truth be told..
I know it’s all in the spirit of good will and well wishes for the holidays..but why?
This year however I am not doing any of that over the top stuff and this is where the friends comes in.
They immediately understand my need not to be all sunshine and happiness on the phone – They understand that I am vigilantly screening my calls so all the well wisher go to voicemail – because come on people after a while it starts to get old… and my age is probably showing but I really have no time for the mundane coy silly stuff anymore.
The friends naturally comes to my aide at times like these and when we talk we are still trying to take over the world, still trying to find that cook book to make a run on and we are truly still having that feel good feeling when we hang up at close to midnight..
Sometimes I just need the regular, the same old same old and nobody knows me or does it better than that chic or the guy that I call friend at the end of my phone line.
At times like these when the holiday overload becomes too much to bear, I thank every deity that I have friends who knows me so well..
NaBloPoMo this January. The theme this month is - Friends
Best friends, worst friends, friends of the family . . . how many do you have, how many do you need, and where are they when you need them.
