The Sunday Salon – Busy, Life and blogging

I haven’t done one of these updates in a while and I kinda miss my Sunday chat with you guys. My life has suddenly taken on skates if the whirlwind that the past few weeks is anything to judge my life by.

I have always found time to blog and write up something to toss up on the blog – but sometimes, yes sometimes I really have to prioritise all the things that makes up my day and unfortunately blogging is no where near the top of the list.

The madness has to stop at some point and I think I am going to be having some slower paced days now so I am hoping it will be back to business as usual on the blog front.

On Reading.

I have been reading, never fear and I have been spreading my wings and trying alot of the new and small presses that have popped up recently. To be honest not alot of it is any good and a majority is of the candy (sweet) cane variety but there were a few authors that I could see little touches of magic here and there and I have added them to my list to follow up on. I will do some quick write up on some of the books I've read over the coming weeks.

On the home front

The boys are on another one week break – I am constantly amazed at the British education system. These kids have just gone back to school and they are on a break already. Well no break for my kidlets – they have drumming, piano, karate, football and a reading challenge to get through.

What!!! I am raising the next world leaders here you know… no rest anywhere in their near future….

Challenges.

I have updated all the challenges I am hosting so if you have read any books or finished any of the challenge please pop over and update the listing (Erotica Romance Reading ChallengeSelf Publishing Reading Challenge) . I will be making the rounds over the next few week to pass on my thanks and congrats or give a little push to ensure you get your ten books read…

On the blog front.

There will be a new feature on my blog as of the 1st of November , it will be a feature for new authors to the publishing industry. I send out a call and they came and to be honest I am surprise at the uptake on this new feature but also very excited to be offering it to you guys.

I am hoping to have at least two of these intro feature per week and will have a separate post for basic guidelines if there are authors that would like to get involved. I have yet to come up with a name, but I have a few days still to brainstorm so the force is still with me - LOL.

I am also back to reviewing as of Monday, I have missed that alot – I have been popping onto blogs and getting recommendation and having a good time with you guys. I haven’t commented alot but I promise to pull my socks up and get back into the swing of things..

End of the year.

Have you guys started reading any seasonal book as yet – I note just a few Christmas reads are out and about already and at least one publishing house Dreamspinner Press is having a good discount on it’s upcoming advent calendar. I got it last year and it was a nice way to start the morning with all these short stories hitting my inbox..

Or probably you guys seen books that look like sweet read for the season – Tell me !!!…. I am hoping to drag out a few Highlander books during the next few weeks, I love me some kilt wearing man for the holly season…

I hope the past few weeks have not been as hectic for you guys as it has been for me…  See you on comment in the coming weeks…

Until next week – cheers

What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....

That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book.

Hi, EH!! I'm glad you see a little less busyness and a little more blogging in your future. Of course, I'm not going to be doing much blogging for the next two weeks, since I'm going on vacation with Kris, Jenre, Tam, and Tracy. Let's hope the world survives, eh? :)

Tam on 24 October 2010 at 18:35 said...

Let's hope you survive Chris. :-)

Yeah, my blogging may be down although I'm always posting pics from my vacations so it might be up. LOL

Sounds like a busy time and looking forward to your series on new authors. Should be fun to find some newbies.

I did buy the Dreamspinner pack on sale, $40 for 1700 pages, can't really complain and I enjoyed nearly all of the stories last year so I'm looking forward to some holiday reads. I'm surprised I haven't read many Halloween stories this year but there haven't been too many new ones and I've read most of the older ones that appealed. Halloween is one of my fave holidays to read about.

Have a great week and hope you boys enjoy their "vacation". LOL

Ha! Word veri: bangers - your boys on their drums.

HI E.H.!!

I'm happy to know that the future of the world will be safe in your boys' hands :)

Glad to hear things are slowing down a bit for you. It gets tiresome to always be overwhelmed.

Chris: Now you're just rubbing it in, aren't you :P

I wish the schools here would give us a day or two off. We haven't had one since the beginning of September, and the kids are getting restless (which is a nice way of saying evil).

Hey EH:)

Your kids are already on a week break? Kids here in America would love it! LOL

I can't wait to see what new authors you discover and like. I'm always excited to read something from someone new, too!

Have a great week ahead! Happy reading:)

From your fingers to god's ears hon..

Tiresome is not the word - I am so fed up of constantly rushing and not getting enough sleep - I need a slower pace, at least for awhile.

The odd Friday here or there I can live with - but honestly - I feel like as soon as I get them through the door they are back home..
