In my house you are either a born reader or you develop a love of reading some where along the line. As the years go by and I develop other interest, always at the top of the list is my reading – there is nothing within reason that I will not drop for my reading…
You remember those sunny days of summer - I can remember a few that I was curled up in the sofa catching upon my reading.
There were even the moment when the kidlets drive me up the wall - I just grab my ereader or my latest paper back and head off to the shed... and me going to the shed is very extreme because that’s where a bunch of feral cats live, they use the back of our shed as a sex pit… I am sacred of those things.
My point today is that the Dewey 24hrs Read-A –Thon is tomorrow until Sunday and I was seriously thinking about missing it because my current obsession is my huge bottle of ribbons and buttons.
I am a crafter and any decent crafter worth their salt have a bottle of odds and bits lying around, this is my bottle and button collection.

Bottle of ribbons – still adding more and more as the days go by

My Mom is getting married and I am doing a wedding album – the preparation freak in me is starting to get scrapbook pages organized. However everything I do seems to end up with buttons and ribbons. Obsessed much!!!

One of my many boxes of buttons – these are the dark buttons.
Anyhow back to the read-a –thon, after looking at all the books I have that just needs to be read I am going to put in a few hours here and there during the 24hrs to get at least two books read. I have earmarked Backstage Pass – Olivia Cunning, because Fiction Vixen raved about it so much…
The Iron Duke – Meljean Brook, since I have been watching for it for a while now and Smexy Books –gave it a high thumbs up.

As the weekend is upon us – what are your current obsession? is it cooking for those of us who cant resist that new recipe, or gardening now that the time is getting cooler, I know quite a few people are out capturing the autumn colours on their camera.
Is there anything at the moment taking you away from your reading?

12 Speak To Me:
Olivia's book is wonderful! Enjoy.
And I just started The Iron Duke. I loved, loved, loved the prequel in the Burning Up anthology and cannot wait really get into this.
Another recommendation Stephanie..
Now I am definately going to hide from the kids and settle into these two...
Saturday morning in bed is sounding better and better now...
:)
I definitely recognize all the jars full of items, my sister is a crafter and she has wool all over the place to do her knitting (currently she's knitting a bed duvet) she creates 3-d cards, does needlepoint and god knows what else. My current obsession away from reading is playing with Artisteer, a blog design program...it's my way of releasing my inner creativity :)
You've chosen 2 excellent books. I'm going to start BACKSTAGE PASS tonight and anxiously waiting for the arrival of my copy of The iron Duke ;) Have a fantastic read-a-thon hon!
There is really nothing like all our bottles and boxes - I don't think us crafters could survive..
I even have a atg gun - that my kids refuse to stop playing with...
Isn't Artisteer just the best - I have had it for a while - but love my blog template so much, I just can't be bothered to change it... I agree it is a neat way to release all that creative tension..
I am so looking forward to these two book - it's nice to be reading books where there is a buzz about them..
:)
I collect buttons, too, but I never do anything creative with them. I just like to pour them out of the jar and look at them ever so often. I think it's my hoarding instinct! :)
I have a couple jars of buttons... :)
I'll cheer you on if you do the read-a-thon, but since missed/disrupted sleep is a migraine trigger, I won't be joining you.
Hmm, I have a fairly obsessive personality so everything I am enjoying is an obsession for a time.
Good luck with the readathon!!
