Sunday Salon: I am – A Blogger, YES I AM

Happy Sunday people …..

I was going to pass on doing this weeks Sunday Salon after having been literally trapped in my computer chair for the last few days. Why?

-  because I decided to attend the second Book Bloggers and Authors Online Conference and I am in the UK – so some very long days and night for me.

It was a fun conference, sometimes it’s nice to connect with bloggers and authors out there on a one to one level. Some of the bloggers in attendance were – Rachel (Bitten By books), Jackie (literary Escapism) Doug (Sci-fi guy) Larissa (Larissa Bookish Life) and a load of other..  and authors  Stacia Kane, Martha Acosta etc, I have to admit the two panel I found the most enjoyable were the Time Management sessions with Janet Bailey and the session with Stacia Kane – she is all kinda super fun..and from the little that she let drop there are loads more books on the horizon in the Downside Ghosts series..

Another thing that these get together does for me is that it re-invigorate me somehow – makes me want to scream I AM A BLOGGER and I LOVE IT…

I really do….

I have some plans for my blog for the rest of the year as I will be at home for the next few months – so I am definately going to invest some of my time into my blog – as I have really slacked off since the year began…  so some of you expect emails and more emails from me…

On other matters…

Food and shopping

The kidlet did Mac and Cheese this week at the cooking program – did you guys hear me say yummmm and yummm again earlier this week.. Mac and Cheese from scratch is just so good, but as I said last week, I didn’t make it myself so it was even better.

All the shops over here are filled with back to school stuff and I still am dragging my feet on buying – because these boys of mine are still growing and I don’t want to start buying and then they don’t fit in a few weeks time… I need to stop feeding them that growth fertiliser or whatever that makes them shoot up like sprout.

Reading front..

I had a really good week on the reading front, sometimes the books just click and I found every book I picked up this week I really enjoyed. I also had the opportunity to do some chat online with people who have read the books and it was really nice to do that – it’s was different and made me look at areas of the books that I had niggles with in another light..

I have another set of books earmarked  for this week and I really do hope I enjoy them. It’s really hard finding good reading material when most everyone seems to be in a follow the crowd sort of mode. I do wish authors would sometimes take a chance with something different and surprise us – or even at the least get a reaction out of us, start a discussion, something...

On the home front..

The kidlet and I spend some time on the net this week as well, we don't do this often as I hate their Facebook chatter (it’s silly and it’s like another language) but we did spend some time with our favourite blogger this week, she is - Kerrie from MYSTERIES in PARADISE, she is our go to blogger for crime fic recommendation.. She is great.

I am also having to repack the bookshelf in the next few days - as my Mom who is the decorator in the family decided it’s summer home sprucing up time and painting en-masse happened.. So I have a living room, a dining room and half of the kitchen filled with books and drop clothes…

Buying, reading and stacking books are all pleasurable activities for me, but packing shelves are almost as painful as pulling teeth… I know I will still be at it this time next Sunday…

If you are a blogger – KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU DO… and ENJOY it.

If you are a follower, A regular here- I APPRECIATE YOU – THANK YOU

If you are a lurker – THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE … hoping to see you on comments, eventually.

If you are a reader – THANK YOU…. It’s a pleasure having you here.

Enjoy the weeks peeps…

Until next week – cheers

What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....
That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book.

Wonderful post, EH!

Mmmmm, homemade mac and cheese is the best! I make if for my kidlet (great word!) It's one of the only kinds he'll heat, picky child that he is :).

As for blogging, I lose my mmphf from time to time, but that urge to blog and visit friends, such as you, always comes back to me!

What a great uplifting post. I admit to being in a bit of a blogging funk at the moment. Hoping to pull out soon. :) I would have loved to have attended the conference but unfortunately I just can't commit to being at my computer at a specific time. Kiddos and family just won't have it LOL. I'm looking forward to what you have planned here!!

I am trying to bribe them to do Mac and Cheese again.. If they would toss in that fried chicken from last week, I would be all set... LOL

I am having so much fun with my son's projects...

EH: Ereaders on sale! (That's a good blog to follow for news, too.)

Wow....I warranted a mention..Sweet!

The conference was a lot of fun and I have to say my husband was really good about keeping the kid occupied.

I'm gonna have to go listen to the audios for the two panels you mentioned. I wasn't able to make it to those, although I did show up on the end of Stacias and it did sound like I missed a good time.
