Jealous Lover

Once burned, twice shy…until the passion reignites.

Three years ago, heiress Crystal Moran gave her heart to a man, only to have it crushed by his accusations of infidelity. Miserable, she picked up the pieces and returned to the United States to run her family’s non-profit corporation. Now, just as she’s got her life in order, he shows up at her big fundraiser. He thinks making a sizeable donation will win back her good graces.

As if.

Greek millionaire Demetrius Vartolas knows his money can’t turn back the clock, but it just might buy him enough time to convince Crystal she belongs in his life. And his bed.

The reunion of bodies leaves them both begging for more. Rebuilding lost trust won’t be so easy—unless she can prove her innocence to him once and for all…

My thoughts

When millionaire Demetrius walked into the charity event that Cassidy was hosting, she is surprise, shocked even – but she plays it cool because Demetrius doesn’t mean anything to her.

He told her to leave three years ago – and she did.

Although she swears she wants nothing to do with him Demetrius has other plans and he intends to get what he wants. Using what he has the most of – his money, charity is soon not only under his thumb but not in any hurry to leave either.

Demetrius still has old loyalties and despite his words and his action Charity cannot forget what happened years ago and Demetrius isn’t giving away much on that point. Something had ot give though because Charity aims to clear the air.

JEALOUS LOVER  suited me to a T, really it did. It is the classic tale of old love returning to get the girl that he did wrong to. With Demetrius doing a lot of alpha male posturing and using veiled threats used to get his own way, it was so predictable and easy I could not help buy liking it.

If you like Harlequin type book this will be right up your street. Sort and sweet and really just hit the spot.

Pinky Swear

Lane and Matt have been best friends since they were ten years old. They’ve been through everything together—childhood adventures in their New Orleans uptown neighborhood, Lane’s stuttering, Matt’s alcoholic father, high school angst, and "coming out" in college. All through the years, they’d shared secrets and, using the powerful pinky swear, vowed to keep every one of them. But neither Lane nor Matt ever told each other his biggest secret—that they were in love with each other.

For Lane, Matt was everything he wasn’t—gorgeous, sexy and outgoing. He had a different boyfriend every week, and Lane couldn’t get a date, let alone the man of his dreams. For Matt, he could never measure up to Lane, never be good enough for the man who set his heart on fire. Neither wanted to risk the deep friendship they shared to find out if the other felt more. Yet after one night of incredible drunken passion, Lane woke up to find Matt gone and a note saying he was sorry and not much more.

Four years later and half a country separated, one fateful storm, Hurricane Katrina, brings the old friends together again. But four years is a long time, and Lane’s grown up, matured, more sure of himself than ever. When Matt rushes home from the West Coast to find the friend he loved and fled, he discovers not just the man he left behind, but a man who knows what he wants—a best friend and a lover who won’t run, who’ll stay forever.

Now, it’s up to Matt to make the pinky swear...

My thoughts

I saw this by Tam’s place awhile ago and I loved her round up of it and as I have never read a Lorenz book before, I started with this one.

The blurb does give away quite a bit of the content of the book – and it really read like any other boy boy scenario where one goes away and years later whether through guilt, family loyalty or some catastrophic event one rushed back to the other. In this book it was a bit of all three of those that has Matt rushing back to see if Lane the man he has not seen in so many year is alive.

What I loved about PINKY SWEAR is the writing, Lorenz style is sweet if that can be used to describe a writing style. As short as this book was she did a wonderful job with each scene, her description of time and place was well thought out and well presented. I normally never try to have the accent of a place in my head when I read books that are set in places where the accents are quite pronounced but I could not help imagining one of the more flamboyant character in this book in full New Orleans twang.

This is a novella, so only the vital info is presented and I really did not need more, that said I would have loved to see what Ms Lynne would have done with this as a full length book or even a chance to revisit Matt and Lane in a longer book.

Sweet read and if this is Lorenz style I am off to check out more of her work… Thanks Tam..

[…]Lane's landlord, an old queen was a riot and offered some good insight to Lane, I liked him a lot and I liked Matt too and you're happy they got their HEA, but I was also happy he got punched in the face.© Tam

Abigail Carter lost her firefighter husband on September 11th. On a mission to heal her heart, she starts a new life in the prairies of Wyoming. Her neighbor, hunky rancher and quarter horse expert Chase Wilder, makes her heart race for the first time in years, but will she let him get close enough to warm the cold winter nights?

Chase rescues Abby from her overturned car in an accident similar to the one that took his wife. His dormant libido goes into overdrive when he looks into Abby's beautiful green eyes. Unfortunately, she's still struggling with her grief, and Chase doesn't want to push her. Can the two find a way to overcome the past and have a future together?

My thoughts

If you like cute ranch type books – you will love this one. I am not sure what it was about this one that made me read it, but I suspect it is the whole nine eleven event being mentioned in the blurb. I do tend to read books about how people deal with the aftermath of the day and where life takes them in general.

Abigail has moved right across the country to start a new life and carry on with the plan that she and her dead husband had always thought about doing for themselves in a few years. Within no time Abigail has an accident and it is only with the help of her next door neighbour Chase that she is able to get back on her feet.

It sorts of gets a little predictable after that but Ms Sullivan added a brother who was just charming and was really the highlight of the story for me. There is also a little comical jealousy thing as well and also a little bit of a supernatural thing happening in there on both Abigail and Chase’s part.

While the HEA was assured it was a struggle really getting there for me – these two did not really talk and too much assumption took place – sometimes that can really not work for me..

As much as I had loads of issues with this book – I do like Chase brother alot and I am looking forward to which woman snare that little flirt in the next book.

[…]There is a lot going on in this story and I can't wait for the next book in the Wilders series.  Chase has two brothers and I hope the next book will be about one of them.  Don't miss out on this truly sexy story. © Judy – Veil Secrets Reviews

Glad you enjoyed Pinky Swear EH. I think Breakfast at Tiffany's also set in New Orleans post-Katrina is even better. While two essentially homeless guys don't seem like your typical heroes of a romance, it really works well.

@Tam

Thanks hon.. I have one series by her to get through, I will add that one to my list..

The concept does sound different though..
