A weekly event hosted by Sheila - Book Journey to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week.
Books I completed last week are:
Patricia Wilson - Edge of Danger
Bailey Bradford - Southwestern Shifters Book 01
Bailey Bradford - Breaking the Devil
Vanessa Vaughn – Pack of Lies
Mary Eason - Root of all Evil –
Lisabet Sarai - Truce of Trust
George R.R. Martin – The Edge Of Night
This is the cover that made me look twice this week…
This was just another cool cover that demanded that I buy the book… it is also very rare that I actually love different covers of the same book – but I do like the German cover just as much as the English cover..
Shadow's Son (The first book in the Shadow series)
Jon Sprunk
In the holy city of Othir, treachery and corruption lurk at the end of every street, just the place for a freelance assassin with no loyalties and few scruples.
Caim makes his living on the edge of a blade, but when a routine job goes south, he is thrust into the middle of an insidious plot. Pitted against crooked lawmen, rival killers, and sorcery from the Other Side, his only allies are Josephine, the socialite daughter of his last victim, and Kit, a guardian spirit no one else can see. But in this fight for his life, Caim only trusts his knives and his instincts, but they won't be enough when his quest for justice leads him from Othir's hazardous back alleys to its shining corridors of power. To unmask a conspiracy at the heart of the empire, he must claim his birthright as the Shadow's Son . . .

46 Speak To Me:
Looks like you were in a sword sorta mood re: covers that attracted you!
The kids have been on a weeks break - after about two days I started reaching for everything that has an edge or a point...
Need I say more...
E.H>
Oh dear... You're up late!
I've been having a touch of insomnia - it come on about once a year.. but it messes up my entire schedule and life..
E;)
Sending sleepy thoughts your way! I'm a terrible sleeper, and react poorly to lack of sleep, so you have my complete sympathy.
Thanks hon...
I am trying to resist the sleeping potions - and just tire myself out with reading and scrapbooking.
Thank god I'm home for the next few days..
E:)
I hope you get some rest, E.H. I have insomnia frequently; it sucks.
I'm reading Miss Me by Mel Spenser this week. I haven't got anything lined up beyond that.
@Eyre
Thanks on - misery loves a good crowd...
I think I have that Spenser book - Hope you are enjoying it..
Happy week hon..

Still awake?? :(
About 10 years ago, I ceased being able to fall asleep. It was horrible. I would be SOOOO tired during the day that I started to drive through red lights and fun stuff like that. So I take stuff (trazadone & elavil) to sleep. And earplugs are a must, because I'm a light sleeper and virtually everything (cat sneezing in the living room through a closed door, even when the fan's running) wakes me up otherwise.
It's just about 2.30am here now - so not really that late..
But I wll probably be up until the boys goes off to school and then i'll crawl into bed and sleep the day away...
I am trying to resist the potions as long as possible - but if I am still like this by Wednesday - then all bets are off - happy pills here I come..
E:)
My sleep habits are weird, I know. I have the sleep mask, but I have to sleep with the t.v. on. I keep it turned down low, but I need it to distract me/keep me from thinking while I'm trying to go to sleep. I use earplugs when I'm visiting my family. They're all hard of hearing, and I've lived on my own too long to have much patience with other people's noise. I think the t.v. habit is something I picked up in college to drown out dorm noise. Now, it helps drown out apartment noise.
Not weird hon - just you being you..
I also sleep with the TV through the night and I am not ashamed of it.. I have to have Inspector Gadget or Gadget Boy going through the night...
I have been doing that for years... can't imagine life any different..
E:)
Schatten Schwert has a wonderful cover! Enjoy!
I love the cover for Sanctuary! That would probably encourage me to read it!
My week:
http://www.dorolerium.com/?p=1382
I'd have to say that I like the English cover of Shadow's Son, but it is nice to know there is someone who explores different covers. One of my favorite book's is Waiting for Columbus and I made a point to by the Canadian edition because I loved the cover more then the American edition.
I love that first cover of Shadow's Son. Its really different and makes you take a nice long look.
I hope you were finally able to get some rest. Insomnia does suck. I hate when it hits me. *hugs*
I haven't read any of those. Right now I'm reading Dark Horse by Kate Sherwood. Very emotional, ups and downs and a slow pace.
@Sheila.
The German cover does have a very Excalibur feel to it..
:)
@Cyrstal..
Santuary is all kinda sparkly pretty - It does start off hot, I am liking it so far..
Happy reading week hon.
E:)
@amcatoir
I do try to look at other covers - sometimes they do make me giggle or just scratch my head in wonder..
I love the English cover more - but the dark background with the sword does work really well for me also...
E:)
@Brandy..
Its really different and makes you take a nice long look.
I know what you mean - I hope the world building and the characters live up to the dramatic feel of the cover..
E:)
@Lily
Insomnia does suck.
To much it does...
Very emotional, ups and downs and a slow pace.
I find the best book are normally like that.. a rollercoaster of a ride..

You had a brilliant week! I hope this week goes s well. Happy reading. My Monday: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/06/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-14-june.html
Hi EH!
I have frequent insomnia, feeling your pain, but I try not to take anything. I'm a zombie if I do, and who wants to live like or with a zombie? LOL
Shadow's Son looks excellent!
I'm reading Hard Magic, Spirit, Nancy's Theory on Style, and a couple of other books right now, lots going on and I pick up whatever strikes my fancy at the moment. All requests, so eventually I'll have them finished.
Hope you get some sleep! (waiting for my kids to go to sleep, all have school tomorrow even if it's summer break here.... busier than ever...)
(hugs)
Dottie :)
@Jennifer..
I am hoping this week goes better - I was in a sluggish mood last week..
Happy week to you as well.
E.H>
@Dottie
lots going on and I pick up whatever strikes my fancy at the moment
I so understand this - I have so many books going all at once..
Summer tends to be the busiest time for me and the kidlets... Enjoy the time hon, they grow up so fast..
E.H>
The on deck books all look interesting...You always pick some awesome covered books...
Ughh I'm feeling for you, insomnia is horrid! I try and go 4 or 5 nights with crap sleep before succumbing and taking a tablet and having a nice, looooong sleep LOL
Happy reading and scrapbooking, I've done some more scrapping this week, it's really helped take my mind off things.
Swords son does have a great cover! I am trying another ertotica this week. Good Girl Gone Bad by Karin Tabke. 100 pages in and its good!
The Sprunk book looks cool, I wanna read :D
You were saying about assassins... ;)
Ohmy, non of those titles ring a bell. What does that say about me...
I've finished Tere Michaels second book, Love & Loyalty, this weekend and plan to read the third, Duty & Devotion, coming week. Among others ;)
Good luck with the insomnia, hon!
@Heidi..
I aim to please hon - glad I could give you some eye candy covers this week..
E.H>
@teddy..
I am on my third night now of this thing - and I am so tired... I'll probably resort to something eventually..
Happy reading and scrapbooking to you as well hon - Hope the kids are treating you well...
E.H>
@Wolfefaily..
Lovely - another erotica - well done you..
Good Girl Gone Bad by Karin Tabke - I have not read that book, but I have read other books by her, she has some style..
E.H>
@Blodeuedd..
I can't get away from the assasins - they are everywhere...
But neither could I resist that cover...
E.H>
@Janna..
What does that say about me...
It just says you are super busy and reading sometimes have to take a back seat...
Ohhh your are almost caught up on all the Tere Michaels books - Hope you are loving them..
E.H>
Yep, I love Tere Michael's writing! :)
Oh, God, I'll never get the German titles. Why they just can't translate a title when possible is beyond me. I prefer the English cover. Love the colors.
Love the swords ;)
Nice week!
@Rikki
When I saw the cover I thought of you - I knew it was not the right translation, but when have they ever done that....
I agree the English cover rocks...
E.H>
@Mandi...
Me too..
E:)
Hi E.H :)
I do hope you continue to enjoy Sanctuary!
I also hope your insomnia goes away and you get some sleep...
@Cassidy..
I started it and the kidlets dragged me away to help with homework...
and it was just at the good part as well....
but it will help me get through another sleepless night.. I already love Kimberlyn, she is a total woman, who knows what she wants....
E.H>
That's great to know!
If you do have another sleepless night, I hope Sanctuary helps you through it :)
Sometimes when I can't sleep I just lie there tossing and turning when I'd be much better off just to get up and do something! I guess I think that I might get up and miss the sleep when it comes or something equally as silly ;)
Hi E.H,
I'm sorry to hear about your insomnia and I hope you get some rest soon!
Thanks for commenting on my blog!
I'm almost finished "Shattered" by Karen Robards and I would be glad to talk to you about it!
@PRSR
Thanks for thinking of me hon - I am slowly getting there..
I am going to race through SHATTERED now, so we can chat..
