The Sunday Salon – Reading in Bed and Blue Skies …..Finally

I am beginning to love Sundays recently it’s becoming the one morning that I can have a decent lie in and just read in bed..

You all know the joys of just having that first cup of tea or coffee for you coffee drinkers out there and just being swayed away by a book, whether it’s mood read material or just something that you can’t put down. I have a can’t put down with me this morning.THE RULES OF WORK – Richard Templar

I have been wanting to read this book for awhile and I am really enjoying it – for people wanting more understanding of the dynamics of a workplace and the angst and secret agenda that people step through their doors with – this is  a great book to read… I treat blog land like the office, so I win some, I lose some and then there’s the in between, but ultimately it’s about the attitude that I bring here and I think I am coming up roses so far with the great load of people that I have met here…

I had a not so bad reading week, not gotten through all the books I had earmarked, but I strayed off the path and read some books that called to me – and I had to thank Tam (Tams Reads) and  Laurie  (BittenbyParanormalRomance) for leading me astray…  thank you ladies…

Something fun that happened to me this week was that I had my very first Google Buzz conversation with a blogger. We spoke of Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea – two of my pet peeve books…

The buzz conversation is easy to use and links and everything worked really well – I like the fact that I am not limited by character count and I could still carry on working in my email without having to jump all over the place…

All in all quite good, I found a new blog and hopefully a new blogger to chat with…

Some updates for you….

March is National Women's History Month! National Women’s History Month

It’s that time again to reflect on some of the women who has made an impact through history – to be honest I have configured this to reflect what I am about and what I love…

So I celebrate the women of my family – and while I share the love as often as I can with them all, March is the time of the month I really go the extra mile… So my super cool mom is having a great treat next week for Morning Sunday… and still trying to decide on what I will do or give to the other important women in my life….

Woman authors that features highly for me are many and varied…. From my earliest book reading stage – I loved Harper Lee (To Kill A Mocking Bird), Grace Metalious  (Peyton Place), Johanna Lyndsay, Lavryle Spencer, Rita Hestand, Rachel Lee, and a slew of others…

Make sure you do something to honour the woman in your life, whether they are near or at the end of a book.

It’s E-book Week this coming week March 7-13

I have not check out all the Ebook suppliers site, but they all participate in some way shape or form last year so I expect that same sort of set up this year with some decent offers for readers…

I know Smashwords is doing up to 50% off some titles and have loads of free titles to try out… I am going to be trying out some of the free title and read outside of my comfort zone, it’s free so I am taking the chance and try some new stuff…

I read some really good discussions around the blog this week, A fountain of listing can be found at(Stumbling Over Chaos) where Chris did a great round up of articles..

One discussion that really stood out for me this week is from the blog Author Interviews, Book Reviews, and More, Jeff did a piece on When Does a Book Fail?. ..

As we approach spring our mornings here are absolutely stunning. I got up this morning and it was so bright, but bloody cold – but guess what, I was in second heaven , because the boys and I were getting really low with the dark mornings..

I am loving the blue skies that I am seeing in the mornings and the little burst of sunshine makes my day….  I hope spring is around the corner for you guys as well…

Until next week – cheers

What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....

That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book

My mum bought me the rules of work years ago for some reason. I am now, for the first time, vaguely interested in reading it.

We've been very spoiled with sunny skies for the past several weeks - today has started out grey, and I'm remembering how much affect sunshine has on my mood!

Thanks for the mention! I know that several publishers are giving 25% rebates at ARe, although I'm not quite sure how that works.

@Hagelrat..

Your Mom has good taste in books...
It is such an easy refreshing read - Most of it is common sense, but it the little things we either overlook or take for granted...

@Chris...

I agree with you about the mood, during the winter months I just accept that it will be dark - but just a few days of sunshine and I feel like I have a spring in my step...

I will be checking out alot of those discounted ebook trader - you are so bad for my budget....

Sounds like you are having a fabulous day, E.H.! :) Oh, I love those mornings when I can just lie in bed. sigh. It's so nice to have a chance to be lazy every once in a while.

I've got beautiful blue skys here today as well, and it's still pretty cold. But I can tolerate the chill if the sun is out.
