The Sunday Salon – Busy Busy Bee

This is the second week of my read at will and little to no reviews plan that I have… The mood reading is going well and of course I broke down and did one review this week..…

It was only one – so not bad, for someone who was throwing up on average 6-8 reviews a week….

Other than the snow and the freezing cold weather, it has been a great week..  The kids were at home and I caught up on some movies and TV, which I like alot..

Natasha from Maw book Blog once again hosted her Bloggiesta event and all it is, is a structured way of weeding out the ton of crap we accumulate in our reader, get caught up on reviews, emails and other stuff that might have slipped by or we were simply dragging our feet on…

It’s also another cool way of learning how to do stuff on your blog and brush up on some of the back end of your blog…

The list is below – While I got through some of the list, I am going to carry on with it for another week – as I wanted to add a few more things to my side bar and get rid of the long label widget that currently sits there…

I will admit it was fun…

The only thing I didn’t make an effort to do is to find a blog buddy,  I actually have no idea what that is – As I chat to loads of bloggers off line and have found my own little world of friends…

It may be someone to work with, to tell me what’s crap and what’s work it on my place. If so, I didn’t put myself out to find that person and all the girls tell me what wrong with my blog anyhow…

They never understand my reviews – too wordy or too convoluted, but it’s my style, so go me…..

Here’s the list.. Striked items are the one’s I have gotten through – others will be self explanatory..

What to do during the Bloggiesta?
  • Write reviews.  - Not reviewing for the month of January.
  • Write backup posts for a rainy day. – Yup  I have a few of those, especially the DISCUSSION POINT articles, those are done in a advance
  • Write that great post idea from three months back – Yup, I have been working with another blogger to change up the post we do.
  • Work on series posts
  • Write guest posts. Nope have none of that here..
  • Put out invitations for guest posts. As above
  • Conduct and edit author interviews. None of those either
  • Create template posts for your future reads (ie: title, images, linking, tags, etc,) so you can open up, write review and post without being bogged down with technicalitiesI use Windows Live Writer – so my template is always at the ready..
  • Clean up your tags, archives, books reviewed list, etc. Nope not going to touch those, I will do a A-Z list of reviews, at some point in the future though and link it..
  • Create a text file (or Google Doc) of cheat sheets (html codes, post url’s, etc). Learn this early on in blogging, always have a cheat sheet…
  • Improve your blog template, clean up sidebars, add a favicon, install those plugins that you’ve been meaning to do.
  • Add or edit your about me page, review policy, disclosure policy, privacy policy, create landing pages (for example – an about me for Twitter readers page) or any other pages you might have.
  • Any bloggy type housekeeping that you’ve been neglecting.
  • Clean up and update your challenge lists.  Link up your posts with hosts.
  • Make sure all of your social network profiles are up to date.  Brand yourself through those profiles with color scheme, images, etc.
  • Go get a gravatar.
  • Visit the Blogging Tips group on the Book Blogs Ning and find ways to improve your blog.
  • Work on any specialized projects that you may have going. I want to add a Multi Tab Widget to my blog, but I am working on that one… (Ongoing)
  • Clean out and organize your feed reader and blog subscriptions. I just click all as read and am starting afresh. I tried sorting out some folders, so this is ongoing as well..
  • Create an elevator pitch.
  • Make business cards.
  • Find a blogging buddy.
  • The sky’s the limit!

So that's how my last few days have been… Hope your weekend has been just as productive no matter what you got up to…

Until next week… Have a great week…

From The Sunday Salon site –

What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....

That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book

I've had quite a productive sunday, yesterday was all lazy but today I looked up hubby and my calendar and realized I had no time to actually do blogposts *eek* I'm also going away and needed to do something that said; Hey, my blog is not in hybernation. So I worked out a special week. To do seven posts, even if their already written takes time to schedule, didn;t realize how much time that took until now. This morning I dabbled with a new template i'm working on and now I'm doing some final bloghopping for calling it a night.

Okay, that were my chaotic thoughts ;)

A month of no reviewing, you go EH, that will save more time for more reading :) I love the check list and will take a few pointers with me, thanks for that. Have an incredible sunday, it is freaking cold here too and snowing. I'm getting fed up with winter, I wants me spring time!

@Leontine..

I cannot do without schedule post - because I have a life... but I do feel your pain..

It is time consuming to set up...

Have a great break away from the blog...

I am loving my break from reviewing - but everything is jumping around in my head ... I am so tempted to write down something, anything....
