Discussion Point – January 06th – Something Special Happened… To Me

I have been dying to get home to tell you lot about something so sweet that happened to me last night… Get your minds out of the gutter – not that….

Being the lazy person that I am, I am combining my Wednesday’s Discussion Point  post and my NaBloPoMo post today.

After telling you guys about how nice and toasty I was last evening, I went off to bed and tried to forget about the impending snowstorm that would face me in the morning…. Only to be shaken awake by my Mom about 3.30am this morning…

I am not a morning person – and 3.30am is not morning… anyhow I digress… my Mom who was up when the snow started, woke the entire house up to walk in the near pristine snow that had settled in front of the house….

If you have never walked on newly fallen snow or any snow for that matter – it is a thing of beauty…. there we were in our bathrobes and our galoshes taking little steps in the almost flawless snow….

I will admit – I thought my mom just couldn’t get cooler and she is pretty cool….  In the first and third pictures shown you can just about make out my foot print going across the road…. I hopped and double back on myself… so hence the single foot print….

My kids think their Gran is ready for the nut house – but I know or I am hoping they secretly realise how cool a moment that was….

Anyhow my day started at 3.30am this morning with a stunningly wonderful timeless moment – how did yours starts, hopefully in a way you wont ever forget and I hope it ended better than mine….

When was the last time you stepped into something unforgettable…

The end of my day….

And I am still ecstatically happy….

Beautiful pix, EH! I'm so jealous! Very rarely do we get snow way down here in GA. :(

I love the fact that you and your mom enjoyed something so simplistic as walking in newly fallen snow.

It's the simple moments that make life happy.

Thank you for sharing that :).

Helen Hardt on 7 January 2010 at 00:04 said...

How beautiful! I agree with Amy -- it's those simple moments that we'll remember forever.

Awww, EH, how enchanting. I live where we get snow every winter, sometimes a great deal of it, so your experience touched something in me. I lost my mother over ten years ago, but I will cherish a great many 'simple' memories of things we did together. Walking in the snow isn't one of them, but I have many others.

Thank you for bringing back some special memories and I hope you enjoy your snow.

Hugs

What a lovely moment to share with your Mom. The pictures look beautiful, and very cold!!

I woke up very early to take my 6yr old grandson to school. We drove by McDonald's for hash browns and juice. It was a good start to the 2nd day of my birthday vacation.

While we had no snow, it's Florida after all, it was still very cold. About 23 degrees F when we left the house. Brrr!!

Thanks so much for sharing! Your mom is truly special. Your kids will remember that walk in the snow and hopefully share one with their own children when the time comes.

I'm a bit jaded about snow, but there's something special about the first snowfall here every year that makes me want to run out and make snow angels. :)

Glad you got to experience the snow as if it was all yours!

What a way to start the day. I wish it would snow in my neck of the woods, but we only get sun or rain.
Thanks for sharing your precious moment with us. Have a great day :)

Lovely moment! I love the feel of snow flakes on my face and to be outside when it has snowed :) We're having a wonderful winter this year. Thanks for sharing this story and the pics, hon!

@Blodeuedd..

I know Blo - all of Europe is laughing at us, at our trauma over a little snow...

But I love my little snow moment..

@Janna..

I am not such a fan of falling snow on my face.. as I am one of the unlucky people who gets a cold as a teaspoon of water splashes me...

With the amount of snow you guys get - those are the small things that makes the difference...

ErotRomReader (Janna) on 7 January 2010 at 14:51 said...

LOL, that's a funny image, unlucky you! Usually we are not that lucky to have so much snow here in Holland, but I love it and enjoy it as long as we have it, with all the small things that come with it :)

I am hating you now - you said the word desert, hot, sunny, hot.... did I say hot...

I am glad my Mom gave me that special memory
