Discussion Point – Are you ready for the New Year…

Normally when the New Year rolls around or is approaching – I am filled with some sort of energiser energy, however this year I am bone tired and just want the first to get here already….

I have been reading, that will never stop but as for reviewing – I couldn’t give a toss…

Where did my zest for pumping out those reviews go – have the reviewing monster finally caught up with me….

I am not sure what it is but it’s something….

Are there any resolution and book-o-lutions out there or are you like me Just going with the flow and not about to set yourself up for a slip from grace when your natural lazy tendency takes hold…

I wish you luck all those who have made resolution and I will be rooting for you…

There are some cool books already primed and waiting to jump out of the stables for the New Year – Hope your list are all marked up and you have not overspend in the post Christmas sales so you are unable to buy any of the goodies that I see promo-ing around the net….

Whatever you are getting up to I hope you are having fun doing it – I certainly am…

Hun, this is the holiday season you're meant to be lazy. Plus resolutions are so overrated. Really who wants to be perfect. :)

Chris on 31 December 2009 at 00:06 said...

Pooey. I never bother with resolutions. That guarantees failure for me!

You can maybe tell from the length of the reviewettess that I write that writing lengthy reviews would crush my reading joy right on out.

So, kick back, take some multivitamins, reread an old favorite, and just enjoy.

Nah, I don't do the resolution thing either. I just want to get through this next year the same as we did last year. My husband is almost done with school, so I'm hoping and praying that all this time will pay off for us and he'll get another good job from his hard-earned efforts! He's doing such a tremendous job in school, if only that could be his job...going to school...he is really enjoying it.

Hi EH,
Sounds like holiday burn out to me. My advice is to take a long, scented bubble bath, then wrap in something snuggly, and read (or re-read) books just for the fun of it for a few days.
Hope you get that energy going again soon and have a great New Year.

Cecile on 31 December 2009 at 03:25 said...

I second that, I never make resolutions... Why, I never remember what I have made to keep it. The only thing I do try to do is just be nice to people more often.

Well honey, if I do not talk to you by then... Have a very Blessed, Healthy, Sexy, Happy New Year!!! Hugs to honey!

I think we get "burn out" once in a while. There are even times when I don't want to read at all. (Shocking, I know.) So, I don't force myself. I just do what I love/want to do and sooner or later, I'll come back to reading. Same case with reviewing, I guess. We all need to take a rest now and then to recharge our batteries. What more during the holidays with so many temptations around us. So don't worry about it, EH! Just enjoy this time while you can. It only comes once a year!

Silver @ The Raving Readers on 31 December 2009 at 03:59 said...

Oh, regarding resolutions...nah. I've tried and failed so many times. Don't want to add to another failure. LOL

Lily on 31 December 2009 at 04:18 said...

EH, I've been slacking on reviews for a while now and like you I'm not sure why. I used to be able to do one for just every book I read and lately that's just not happening.

I've joined a few reading challenges in the hopes of making a dent in my TBR as well as getting back into the groove of reviewing. I guess that would be my readolutions. :)

Jude Mason on 31 December 2009 at 04:32 said...

Hi EH,

Sounds like you need a break for crying out loud. Your reviews are amazing and I'll always thank you for each and every one of them, but I would totally understand if you wanted a vacation from it.

Honestly, I'm feeling a tad worn out myself right now. Plugging away for months on end does wear a person down. I feel like I need new batteries. LOL

I think it's the winter that slows us all down. We need some sun to get us motivated again. I'm sure we'll all feel full of vim and vigor again soon.

Happy Holidays to you, EH and I wish you all the very best in 2010!

Hugs

No surprise that you're feeling fatigued-I'm tired just reading all your great reviews! And I only made it back several weeks! Give yourself a New Years breather. Maybe try reading for fun only. No reviews allowed in January! Seriously great blog, but now I need a rest before reading more! Kelley

@Thanks Silver -

Sound advice and even better when it comes from experience...

Good thing I got in a bunch of graphic novels for the holidays - so those are entertaining me at the moment...

But I am enjoying the time with family...

Which is always good..

@Lily..

Loving the new avatar - I did notice that there are a few less reviews at your place...

I know you are great at challenges and you have the idea of using Goodreads, so that will be great to just do short notes...

I'll be rooting for you...

Hope you are having a happy time with the family...

Hi sweetie,
Sorry it took me so long to drop by! You know how much I love your reviews but I'm truly amazed at your reading and reviewing speed. I can imagine you could use a break, so maybe that should be a resolution for you? :)
For me, I don't like real resolutions but I joined a few challenges to get me some structure in reading ;) Probably an illusion, huh? As long as I don't lose the pleasure in reading I'm good.
Happy New Year, honey!

@Janna...

It's the holidays - as I was told, so it understandable you go as slow as you want to...

Those challenges will certianly get you on track....

Make sure you follow through though.

O, I def plan on following through with the challenges. Especially with the Erotica one ;)

I like your new lay-out btw! Looks good! And it's much easier to load too, way faster!

@Janna...

Thanks Hon...

I am loving it as well - I need the blog to load faster that was one of the main reason why I changed it....

I hope I can keep it clutter free....
