The Sunday Salon – A Different Week

Another weeks done and I am starting to look back at what I did with the year so far. All my challenges are just about completed an I wont be doing any next year… or at least that what I tell myself.

I think I will be reading just for the pleasure of reading next year, none of this reading 30 – 40 books a month, I am definitely scaling down and getting more involved in one or two ideas I have for the blog. I will of course still be pushing people to read next year as well as I am so pleased at the great friends I have made this year through reading and book discussions… I am having fun.

I will be hosting a reading challenge next year – I will post about it in a few weeks…

This week I read my first really really emotional stunning book for the first time in ages and I was blown away by it – Rivers Of Tears – Michelle Montgomery… A  simply wonderful book…

I also found out this week that most bloggers don’t like to read self published authors – for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why – other than fearing the quality of work due to the editing process, but that is just the same as work with editing done through publishing houses – you win some- you lose some. If you don’t read self published work or don’t accept for review, please let me know why.

I have read at least four in the past three week and I have to tell you – they impressed the hell out of me…

I went bargain basement book shopping this week and I swear that little man is getting more and more possessive about those books. You can’t touch then, you aren’t allowed to read them in store and god help you if he sees you putting books back out of order to where you found them…….

I am addicted to his shop – he has some fun stuff. I found an original Gordon Merrick there this week – How cool was that…

Some not so good news from the blogging world this week as well – Barbara from Happily Forever After is giving up blogging – She will be sorely missed. This of course only re-enforces my need to time mange and again I say, time manage my time on the net – You end up missing so much of life just sitting in front of the computer…

Hope the week went well for you and you at least got in some reading, even if its only the broadsheets… Until the next Sunday Salon – be seeing you…

From The Sunday Salon site –

What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....

That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book

Lol, well books are sure something to be possessive about, though not that much since he sells them.
