The Sunday Salon – My First Outing

I have decided to fill one of my weekend days with a round up of my week in the book world and nothing says that more than THE SUNDAY SALON.

From The Sunday Salon site –

What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....

That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book

This week went by faster than I thought it would, I started the week with a list of books to get through and as is my tendency I read all the mood books that struck my fancy and all the covers that called out to me and so the books I had earmarked have not been read and are still sitting on my shelf leering at me – but it’s a new week – I’ll just add them to the list again..

So I recently had a personal set back in regards to my blog and I have been avoiding it as much as possible this week – I was on scheduled post alot this week. So in the interim I reread a few of my old love CHARADE – Sandra Brown, MORNING GLORY – LaVryle Spencer and Linda Howard’s McKENZIE MOUNTAIN (the series) and I was loving it all.

I also popped into some used books store to stock up on my paperback reading material. Like I need any more, that has never stopped me before, so why should it now…LOL

Another must tell thing that happen this week was I received our tickets to OkTOBERFEST 2009 for the all night anime viewing – My Son and I have decided to celebrate International Year of Astronomy with a sci-fi weekend….  we are so looking forward to it.

While I shuffled around the net for the past few days – I have been hook to the on going battle between Wal-Mart and Amazon – see my post (Wal-Mart V Amazon) if you want to drop your voice to the discussion. Another glue  eyes to story is off course the Barnes & Noble saga of the ereader – the pictures below are the leaked pic by Gizmondo  and to top that off Barnes & Noble are also in yet another tit for tat situation -  Plastic Logic Denies Color Ebook Reader

The story of the Barnes and Noble Ebook reader has it all, doesnt it? Thrills, chills, drama, chases, deception, corporate intrigue, interviewers with cute voices and smarmy counterfeit B&N guys…this whole story would make a great novel.

I needed something to perk me up this past week and with friends and a few well placed words and a swift kick up the backside I am up to speed or I hope I will be up to speed and al set and ready for taking on blog world.…

So until next week again, I'll start hoarding all news and have a round up for you on THE SUNDAY SALON again…
