It’s Thursday, But – “Waiting on” Wednesday

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill on Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Trades of the Flesh
Faye L Booth

Preston, 1888: as the century draws to a close, the prostitute murders in London have made young Lydia Ketch's 'trade' a political issue. Lydia, the tough but optimistic daughter of a former workhouse inmate, has spent a year working in the 'introduction house' of Kathleen Tanner, a job that has given her an income few others could match. When Lydia meets Henry Shadwell, a young surgeon with a passionate interest in biology, the two develop an instant - and non-professional - bond. And Henry soon enlists Lydia's help in his underground sidelines; first as a model for pornographic photography; then as an assistant in procuring corpses for medical experimentation. With the dangers of her own line of work becoming clearer by the day, and her newfound delight in her own sexuality burgeoning, Lydia becomes disillusioned with her life as a prostitute. And it soon become clear that her trade - and Henry's - are even more dangerous than either had imagined. "Trades of the Flesh" is a gripping novel about the body and its desires, from a precocious voice in historical fiction.

Remember this anyone

The cover was what attracted me to Trades Of The Flesh

The Farfield Curse: Bran Hambric
Kaleb Nation

In a bustling metropolis where magic is outlawed, a six-year-old child is found inside a locked bank vault. A scrap of paper reveals his name: Bran Hambric. The child remembers nothing of his life before the vault. Only magic could have done this. But why would any mage risk breaking the law to place a child in a bank vault?

Eight years later the City of Dunce has forgotten about Bran. Even his foster parents don't seem to know he exists. But there are those who have been watching, biding their time, waiting to strike, people who know where Bran came from and why he was sent away. And they will do anything to get Bran back, dead or alive.

Welcome to a world unlike any other where the adventure of a lifetime is just beginning.

Where is my notepad??? I am going around bloglandia today and find one book after another that sounds so good! Again, Trades Of Flesh sounds like something I would highly enjoy, thanks for the tip EH. And how weird is it that some covers are re-rused in some way. I had that once with a cover of a classic on my shelves and saw it in stores again 10 years later, my heart sped up but as I grabbed the book it was a different author and story, so weird how a cover can have instant recognition with a certain feeling LOL
