Weekly Geeks – Books and Music

Music is a pretty amazing thing. It can take us back to the past, make us want to dance, put us in a romantic mood, or simply lift our spirits. But sometimes, music does something a little different for me: it reminds me of a book.

Yes, there is nothing more geeky than to be riding down the road listening to the radio and suddenly thinking "That song matches [book title] perfectly!". But that is exactly what happens to me sometimes. For example, whenever I hear Phil Collins' song 'Can't Stop Loving You,' I immediately think of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North and South. To me, it is exactly the kind of song that describes the two main characters' relationship.

So, my fellow Weekly Geeks, your challenge this week is to come up with at least one song-book match. It could remind you of a theme from the book, a specific part of the plot, or even one of the characters (a sort of theme song, if you will). Be sure to include samples of the lyrics and the reason why that song reminds you of that book. If you can provide a link to a recording of the song so that other geeks can hear it that would be great as well. (One good place to look for links is, there are others, too).
Rock n' Roll!!

This weeks Weekly Geek is quite straight forward and I am loving it. I have decided to go with the last set of books I have read – These are the three books I have chosen

Car Wash – Shawn Lane

P.S. – If you press stop on the players and then listen as you go along – The software starts them all as soon as you bring the page up…

I know Rose Royce did the original song, but there is just something about Christina Aguilera Voice that does it for me… I love her and Missy together on this one. I love it so much – I put it on twice.

cool post EH - I like your music tastes. Linkin Park is a favorite of mine as well.

I always associate certain music pieces with books as well. My iPod is my friend.

What a great idea.I got here and this cool music playing.I sometimes forget how music can lift my mood.I haven't heard Car Wash in a while. For me when I hear music it takes me exactly to the time in my life when the song was just released and getting lots of air time.I literally go back there and even get the smells and feel whatever I was feeling at the time(sad, happy, anxious).I have never thought about linking songs to books so you have got me thinking now.Mind you,my linking songs would probably be a bit strange and not at all like the good songs you have up here.
Hope ur having a great weekend!!

Car wash is definitely high on my Ipod for the next few week....

I love Christina's voice....

I know what you mean by putting music to the book you read - A little bit too much...

OH EH, I have to say that you get a person thinking!!! LOL!!
There are a few songs that I have thought just absolutely make me think of the book that I have read. But songs do have a way of running your emotions for those few minutes that it plays, and what is nice is when a tune lingers in your mind and soul and it is just a good feeling!
I will try to do the linkage... Okay.. we are talking about spacitic me! But I am loving your tunes right now!!!
I hope you had a great weekend!
