Review – Scorpio Tattoo – Jude Mason

The Blurb

A woman tormented fills Jonathan Rorke's dreams. Once he rescues her, the tattoo on her back is a mystery that they must solve.

The Review

Jonathan Rorke – The man  with the second sight. Haunted from dream to dream. He knows most times he has only one chance to get it right. Never fitting in – he knows exactly when something is off and something is definately off  with this latest dream.

Jessica Crane – The woman who seem to be unable to catch a break in her life. After coming out on the other side of a bad relationship – what else could go wrong.

The Plot

Having the same partial dream for the past few night has not only left Jonathan Rorke frustrated but impatient as he knows something is just not right. When he does get the slightest of clues, he doesn’t hesitate – he rushes out into the night to save the tormented woman calling out to him.

Waking up in the arms of a stranger, somehow Jessica knows she is safe and not still in the clutches of the unknown. Tormented beyond her wildest imagination, she is a survivor with the kindly strangers help. However the darkness has followed her and he or it is not willing to give up on what is his.

Smut/ ick Factor

Initially When Jonathan met Jessica, i could not see or feel the chemistry between them, this did not stop them from having a smut roaring time however. Later on in the book when the dynamics of the relationship changes – the smut is unbelievable.

This a short read, I actually came across it by chance on Goodread and something about the cover combined with the blurb and i drop everything to get it.

This a story that will not only touch your heart, but delves into the inner working of the human soul and the amount of stress and strain it can endure in the name of love.

The characters themselves were not anything special on their own, however the combination of the Physic with the unknown and throw in a tattoo and a less than conventional cop and we have a set up that really took this book places.

I love my smut and i must admit i was disappointed with the first set of smut scene, however Ms. mason has created a scenario where i could be easily converted to a voyeur without no pressure at at – I love the last set of smut…

I liked Jessica character, she comes across as a right up front sort of person. She is not shy about what she wants, she’s pissed – she shows it, she’s horny – she make it be known and when the unknown makes an appearance – she even surprised me with her wants and her need to comfort.

The ending of this book was such a surprise – it is one of those  rare books, where the author just amps it up and makes it totally different. I loved it.

I love the mystery surrounding the tattoo and how Ms. Mason deals with the lose of life from two perspective within less than three pages. One person was very clinical – very abrupt about it, the other person humanizes the scenarios and fill the situation with the emotional element of today's language.

There were little areas that felt too convenient, however given the length of the book, the story line the author went with was conveyed brilliantly in my opinion - i am not going to  nit pick this wonderful read to death.

I like it, one of the reason i actually got this book. It had that whole paranormal thing going on and i loved it.

That is a pretty smokin' cover. It would definitely make me stop and read the blurb.

Oh my God!

E.H., thank you so much. I didn't know you'd done a review. A good friend and fellow author, Jamie Hill, told me about it and I did a search for it. Wow! Thank you!

The cover on this book took forever to get 'Just right', but the artist knew it was important. When she showed me this one, I knew we had it. The story, well, I'm a big fan of paranormal mystery type things and this just came to me. The ending snuck up, even on me. I'm so glad you liked it.

Again, thanks so much for your kind words.
