The Review

Characters

Bella Forsham – Party girls with more than just looks to her name. Daughter to a rich man, she has always had the world on a string – after a non event down the aisle she is getting her life and business together, but her past has come back and it intends to bite her right on the bum.

Mitch Carter – The go getter who has just about all he wants in life. The only thing missing is also the one person who he has to rely on to get him out of his current predicament – he’s is not happy.

The Plot

When Mitch Carter finds himself in a position that he has not only been dreaming about, but also a position that could end up being quite possibly his worst nightmare – almost that is, because the woman he may have to rely on to get him through this difficulty is the same woman who left him at the altar years ago.

Bella has come a long way from the party girl - wanting it all, to the business woman who has an eye for detail and a brain ticking over with creative possibilities. While some things changed in Bella’s life over the years, some things remain the same. When she has to make a pitch for a job that could make a difference to her business, she is all for that. The one fly in the ointment is Mitch – the man she jilted years ago.

Mitch and Bella both have the same agenda in getting the job done, they however have clear idea of how not to go about upsetting the apple cart that is their past relationships. Bella has a plan, but can she carry through before it goes wrong for both her and Mitch.

"I need a creative wizard with killer contacts. Someone who gets what our clientele will want, who can make the resort a posh getaway for the wealthy. If I'm going to turn this into the most talked-about hot spot of the rich and famous, I'm going to need someone who kicks ass."

Diana's mouth worked for a second, then after an obvious internal struggle, she thrust out her chin and pointed to the abandoned dossier on his desk.

"But that's what I've been trying to tell you, Mitch. Belle Forsham is all of that. Her events are the most talked-about, the most outside-the-box successes of the last two years. She seems to know everyone, do everything. She…" Diana stopped, wrinkled her nose and took a deep breath before continuing. "She kicks ass."

Amazed she'd finally used his given name, Mitch gave a snort of laughter at the uptight way she said ass. Amusement faded as he glanced again at the photo of his ex-fiancée.

When had she gone into event planning? And how the hell had she stuck with it long enough to be such a success? He had to admit, though, she had the intelligence and creativity to make it happen, although she'd always tried to hide the brains behind a flirty flutter of her lashes. She was definitely a social butterfly. He recalled the guest list for their aborted wedding. It had read like the who's who of People magazine.

Surprise Element

I am surprise at how much fun i had reading this book, I laughed loud at some of the antics that Bella and Mitch get up. And i was not prepared to feel as strongly about the support characters as i did. A side story and a little bit of mystery was a nice touch to the book.

Predictability

It’s a “Silhouette book” – it is going to be predictable – it up to the author to find that little something to make a difference and Ms. Weber does. She has fun with her characters, her support cast lends an air of reality and mystery to the book to ensure you are left wanting more.

But more than anything else the emotional intensity between Bella and Mitch was an experience in itself.

Smut/Ick Factor

The love scenes or the build up to them was so much fun and a welcome change. One was being hunted with innuendos and heavy teasing and the other was running for his life – that is until he stopped running.

Positive

Tawny Weber’s COMING ON STRONG is a snazzy fun read. We are introduced to Mitch Carter, the man with the Midas touch who only wants Bella. But Mitch had learned his lesson when he was jilted by her years ago and he was not about to make the same mistake twice, no matter how his body react to her being constantly underfoot.

Bella is the original in your face sort of girl. Other than the mistake of not going through with her wedding, Bella has always had the hots for Mitch. Now that the opportunity has presented itself for her to have her cake and eat it too, can she get past Mitch’s defences a second time?

The support characters are of the ilk of loath them or love them variety – and a little bit of everything is in this book. There are one or two people that more than stood out and i am looking forward to their story very soon.

Negative

I’ll just say it was a fun, entertaining read. Nothing to moan about. All the areas that needed building up – I'll reserve judgment on until i read the next book in line to be released next month.

Cover

What’s not to like, it’s everything and more that you would expect from a “Blaze” book. It’s a fun cover.

Good Morning EH!

Wonderful review. I've liked some of the Blaze books that I have read. While there is a predictability factor I've found they have some very creative authors under that umbrella at Harlequin who write some really good stories. :)

As you indicated when you are in the mood for something quick and fun, it's often the way to go!

Nice review! This one actually sounds pretty cute. I have quite a few Harlequin Blaze's sitting in the tbr, but I only believe I've rad one or two. I think they are a great, quick read that usually pack a hot little story.

hey Lea,

Good Morning to you. I do agree with you, there a sterotypicalness about Harlequin/ Mill and Boons - but i have found some wonderful authors through the years and i have been reading them for years.

They are quick read - that's good to get you going when you are having a slow week...

Fantastic Review E.H.!

This book definitely sounds like a lot of fun. I've never read HQN Blaze novels before but this one sounds worth the try.

Thanks for the recommendation!
