Sealed with a Kiss - Mary Margret Daughtridge

The Blurb

He figures she's high maintenance.

He has yet to meet a woman who didn't cling, and being a Navy SEAL doesn't leave much time for anything else…

She figures he's not "commitment" material.

Men are interested in one thing-either her brains or her body. She's just as well off focusing on her career…

But when widowed Navy SEAL Jax Graham and his young son Tyler get trapped by a hurricane, family therapist Pickett Sessoms takes them in and knows just how to help a rough, tough Navy SEAL deal with a scared and lonely little boy. Jax and Pickett know just what to do with their red hot attraction, too, even though neither has falling in love in their plans. But when a "family" outing turns deadly, Pickett understands what it means to be a SEAL and Jax discovers that even a hero can't always go it alone…

The Review

When Navy SEAL Jax Graham ex-wife dies, he is more or less forced to spend time with and get to know is son by his commanding officer; he does so with lots of conflicting issues going on in his mind. Having had minimum contact with Tyler has left him estranged and more than a little wanting when it comes to the whole father son relationship.

As misfortune would have it he gets caught in a hurricane and is only recue comes in the form of the one person that is son seem to get along with – Pickett Sessoms. Not only is the rescue much needed from the elements, but he desperately needs help in bridging the gap between himself and Tyler and Pickett is just the person to help him.

Family therapist Pickett Sessoms is a soft touch, she knows it, her family knows it and now apparently the lone man and his son from the beach knows it, as 24hrs after meeting them, they are on her doorstep seeking shelter. Pickett can’t say no to anyone in need and there was not anyone more in need than Jax and Tyler.

While the couple settle to sort out his, hers, and Tyler’s issues, a budding sort of understanding develops between Jax and Pickett, this soon blossoms into something that they least expects to happen. Jax and Pickett however goes into the relationship with there eyes wide open –He believing that she is high maintenance and more or less like all the other women that has pass through his life and Pickett  - summing him up as commitment shy.

When a day out turns deadly Jax and Pickett comes face to face with their worst nightmare – both quickly realize they have to rely on each other to get them through, as alone, there’s no way they can make it.

Sealed with a Kiss is probably one of the best read of my year so far. This book has a little bit of everything and a whole lot of something.

Navy SEAL Jax Graham is caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to his son, but as luck or fate would have it; he meets Pickett, who turns out to be the answer to his prayer for more than one reason. Pickett is not only soft hearted but also practical when it comes to little boys and matters of the heart.

Tyler has to be mentioned as he made the story for me – with more than his fair share of trauma, he finds himself with an “old” new dad, a friend who makes him laugh and a house that he knows is home.

Ms. Daughtridge has enhanced on an age old plot to give us something that you will easily be pulling an all nighter to get through. The story stands out with twist and turns and moments that will have you either reaching for the next tissue or sighing at the fact that these three people have found each other.

Ms. Daughtridge’s characters are strong and personable, you’ll either love them or hate them in equal measure, there are moments of hilarity that are well timed, well placed and makes the whole book all the more real.

Sealed with a Kiss is the first in a series and if the tone of this book is anything to go by, I most certainly am looking  forward to the next anything that Ms. Daughtridge puts her hand to.

Oh Dani,

It's so good,

I wouldn't imagine that you would have a problem reading the second one first - if the style of writing in this first one is anything to go by.

There is so much more to this book that I didn't want to mention without it being a spoiler - but so worth it.

I am just itching to get my hand on the second one - APRIL, Where R U.
