Men of Alaska - Edge Of The Storm: Jennifer McKenzie

When Coast Guard Petty Officer Matthew Sands has to return to Dutch Harbor, he does not expect to be on the run for a crime he did not commit. Matthew knows he has made a lot of mistakes in his life - although he’s not the first to admit it. The biggest was against his mother.

Kelly Shannon has come back to Dutch Harbor to find answers; she has been left in limbo with the loss of her first love and childhood sweetheart. Finding a position on a fishing boat for the summer, she quickly realizes that there are still more questions than answers in the one place she will forever call home.

In order for Matthew to stay safe, help comes from the most unexpected source and in the most unexpected place. When he signs up on The Athena in order to lie low, he is crewed with men who thankfully get on with the work at hand and leave him alone. However he finds himself more and more attracted to the cook, who turns out to be more trouble than he ever expected to find on a fishing boat in the middle of the Bering Sea.

EDGE OF THE STORM is an exciting read filled with murder, mystery and mayhem. Matthew is trying to play it alone, but quickly realizes that he needs the support of not only the person who loves him the most but from every person that he comes into contact with.

Kelly is a force to be reckoned with. Clinging to a memory of a dead man, she shies away from anyone that shows the least bit of interest in her. When she meets Matt however, she quickly realizes that what she felt before was child’s play compared to the soaring out of control emotion she feels for Matt.

Ms. McKenzie's EDGE OF THE STORM is the second book in the Men of Alaska series and is best read as a part of the series.
