Payback: Rose Middleton

When rooming difficultly arose onboard the Lazarus, Alexis Benedict is put in the position of having to bunk with Lorenzo De Luca.Little did the captain know that he had just put two people who hated each other into the same room.

Alexis and Lorenzo have not seen each other in five years, and they now eye each other like cage cats just waiting to strike. Lovers and best of friend years earlier, the last time they saw each other was not under the best of circumstances.

Both are on board to do a job, Lorenzo trying to get his life back and Alexis looking for revenge. With a very precious jewel on board ship, will they realize the jewel they have in each other, before they are separated again; this time maybe for good?

Rose Middleton has given us a fun short story that never loses pace. Alexis and Lorenzo are so caught up in the thrill of the chase and that pot of gold at the end of the line; they at no point prepared themselves for the feelings that would resurface when they have come face to face or for that little thing called love.

Alexis and Lorenzo have been friends since childhood and although they have not seen each other for more than five years – the qualities that they have always liked and respected in each other are still there. Not trusting each other, but caught up in a situation where its best to keep an eye on each other – their time onboard prove more fruitful that they even imagined.

This is my first Rose Middleton book, but won’t be my last – she has a clear, clean style of writing that draws the reader in and have you enjoying yourself before you realize what’s happening.
