The Covers That Stand Out For Us This Year

It's that time of the year again when all over the net blogger end the year with their final project and tidy up all the year long list that they have been compiling. Here at Erotic Horizon it is no different. Along with some of the ladies from the Purville Group - On the Good Read Library - the list of the covers that stand out for us are listed below.

The only two criterion that was to be adhered to were,

  • The book had to be released in the year 2008
  • The Cover must  reflect the story line in way shape or form.

Here below are our final choices:

Collette's Best Cover

Publisher: Ellora’s Cave
Release Date: May 28, 2008
ISBN: 9781419916885
Genre: Contemporary Erotic/Ménage á trios

"This cover and book threw a few of us into some unknown territory and some of us never looked back.
The sex is way hot but a bit slow in places for me ... I tend to like it a bit faster but with this story and the personal issues, it really did go at the pace that it needed to go".

Publisher: eXtasy Publishing
Release Date: September 2008
ISBN: 9781554871922

"Both characters were well developed and come into their own. Michael definitely turns into a hero you can stand behind, and I found myself rooting for their love to grow and develop into something quite beautiful. I wasn't disappointed".

Erotic Horizon's Best Covers

Publisher: loose-Id
Release Date: August 2008
ISBN: 9781596327429
Genre: Contemporary Erotic/Gay

Taking Work Home is the second in the Lord And Master series and the cover says it all. Where Stephen was the total alpha  in the first book, in this second book Mark comes into his own and he is the one that now supports Stephen in every way possible - he even surprised me a time or two. This cover depict the growth of a boy into a man and he's comfortable with it.

Release Date: October, 2008
ISBN:  9781603703185

In a year filled with more erotic covers than you can shake a stick at, AKM Miles - cover of Brackets was not only a total change but it suited the story line in such a way that  I had to keep looking at the cover the more I read the book. There's a little bit of fantasy along with a huge dose of reality in this book, and it works well.

Publisher: Awestruck Books
Release Date: December, 2008
ISBN: 9781419916885
Genre: Contemporary Erotic

Feathers on the Floor, is a book i had the opportunity to read a few months prior to it's release. A story full of much trauma and unspeakable soul searching, a wonderful tale of the sacrifices we make for our children and above all a book full of hope and realising second chance when it stares you in the face.

Heather's Best Covers

Publisher: Berkley Trade
Release Date: November 2008
ISBN: 9780425224045
Genre: Contemporary Erotic/Ménage á trios

"Be With Me was touching and sweet, but it was also a really good mystery with a great plot, as well as a very steamy romance. To be honest, I was surprised that the sex didn’t start much earlier in the book. I was probably more than halfway through before the really hot stuff started. This is an attention grabbing Romantica book, and a great introduction to ménage books if you haven’t read one before. I highly recommend it".

"I loved this book. It was so romantic!!! I think this might be the most romantic m/m erotica I have ever read :)
Others here have already given this book great reviews, so I'll just say that this really did have me in tears a number of times...
So good!!!!!!"

Thanks for picking Taking Work Home as one of the top covers. :-) It's currently my own favourite of my cover art, for exactly the reasons you give -- it's such a good depiction of the theme of the book. Anne Cain did a fantastic job showing the growth of the characters and their relationship from one book to the next.

Oh how cool!! Thank you very much! I love the cover for The Happy Onion, it captures the feel of the book perfectly. Another triumph by the cover goddess Anne Cain *g* I heart her like crazy.

Happy Holidays to everyone, whichever one you celebrate!

This is so great. Thanks for choosing Falling:An Erotic Love Story as one of your favorite covers. April Martinez did a great job creating a sexy, moody cover that I think speaks to the story beyond the cover just beautifully. I am so glad others agree.

Thanks again! So cool.
